Every hit counted, from an AirPod in your grip

Make a small hole in the end of the grip, tuck an AirPod in, and play. The app counts your hits, estimates the force of each impact and recognizes the shot type.

Racket sports are coming to the Kinapod app, free for now. Works with AirPods Pro (2019 or newer) and standard AirPods (3rd generation or newer).

The real mount: a small hole in the grip end is all it takes, and the AirPod tucks right in.

Hit count

Every ball you strike is counted automatically, through the whole session.

Impact force

An estimate of how hard each hit was, straight from the shock the racket takes.

Shot type

Recognizes what kind of shot you played from the motion of the racket.

Introduction

Racket sports are where the Kinapod research began, with the first on-court experiments in autumn 2025. Everything since, the whole platform, grew out of that work, and the racket metrics are built on all of it.

Rackets take a measurable shock on every hit, and the swing before it has a shape of its own. Kinapod puts a motion sensor in the handle: an AirPod tucked into a hole in the butt of the grip, on the racket you already play with. Tennis and pickleball first.

What it measures

Kinapod is a practice and training aid. Metrics are estimates derived from motion sensors and are not a certified measurement instrument.
